Created in 2001, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) highlights and rewards the most remarkable contemporary creations. In november of each year the event draws elite representatives of the international watchmaking profession, united in honouring the finest creations and stakeholders who breathe vitality and creativity into the watchmaking world. To instill wonderment, Van Cleef & Arpels draws from its sources of inspiration and its heritage, developing new techniques, awarded this year.

The Lady Jour Nuit creation was awarded the Ladies’ Watch prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2024.

In the vision of Poetry of Time™, this timepiece reinterprets the ballet of the planets through virtuoso watchmaking mechanisms. It evokes the trajectories of the Sun and the Moon in a dial animated by a movement that is perceptible on a daily basis. Thanks to the depth effect of Murano glass, the piece recreates the immensity of space and the magic of a starry night. As a real technical feat, the glass is delicately openworked to accommodate diamond-set white gold stars. The Lady Jour Nuit watch is one of the Poetic Complications® of the Maison, collection born in 2006. It combines watchmaking techniques, precious materials and traditional savoir-faire to bring each dial to life with a story.

The Lady Arpels Jour Enchanté creation was also awarded a prize in the Artistic Crafts category.

Honoured for its exceptional expertise of artistic techniques, the creation brings to life a graceful silhouette, gathering flowers under the first rays of sunshine. Meticulously hand-sculpted, the white gold fairy unfurls its wings in mother-of-pearl enamel, revealing their transparency in the light of day. Crossed by the light, generous leaves in white gold, plique-à-jour enamel and diamonds also shelter a field of shimmering flowers. Set with yellow sapphires, they are created in relief using a new technique developed by Van Cleef & Arpels: façonné enamel. In the background, set against a sky of three shades of turquoise, the sun is illuminated by precious stones: spessartite garnets, colored sapphires and diamonds. Its rays are set in a lifted setting, an innovative technique that creates the illusion of suspended stones, like dewdrops. For Extraordinary Dials™ creations, the art of enamellers, engravers, lapidaries, miniature painters and gem setters complements that of watchmakers. With each new inspiration, the crafts meet and combine, illustrating the creativity and excellence of the Maison.

The Lady Arpels Brise d'Été creation was also awarded the Ladies’ Complication Watch prize.

Cherished inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels since its creation, nature create poetry and vitality into its timepieces. This timepiece celebrates the morning freshness of a summer's day. Highlighted by matte mother-of-pearl, the dial reveals a bucolic scene where the hours pass with nature's eternal cycle. Two diametrically opposed white and yellow gold butterflies in plique-à-jour enamel take turns at noon and midnight to indicate the time. They take off to circle the dial, while the flowers undulates in a natural movement, as if lulled by a gentle breeze. Created in vallonné enamel, they are adorned in a cameo of blue while the pistil in spessartite garnets illuminates each of their corollas. In the background, two blades of grass in curved plique-à-jour enamel intertwine, creating a veritable miniature work of art paying homage to nature.
