L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels

L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts was founded over ten years ago with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels in the aim of sharing the culture of jewelry both in France and around the globe. Focusing on jewelry, its history, craftsmanship and gemology, it offers courses, talks, children's workshops, books, videos, podcasts and free temporary exhibitions.

In June 2024, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts has widened its scope with a new location in an 18th century mansion, Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau, on Paris’s Grands Boulevards. Registered as a historic monument, the site will include a large exhibition space, a one-of-a-kind bookshop called L'Escarboucle and a library, entirely dedicated to the world of jewelry.

Transmitting the Maison's craftsmanship

Jewelry professions contribute to a tradition of French savoir-faire that has shone throughout the world for centuries. The jewelry industry holds the prospect of sustainable jobs, and yet these fields of expertise remain little known, particularly among the younger generation.

A unique place of learning, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts introduces the general public to the world of jewelry through courses and talks. The teaching team of L‘ÉCOLE is made up of over 60 experts : jewelers, jewelry historians, lapidaries, gemologists, and Japanese lacquer and grand feu enamel experts. While each of them is using their skills in their area of expertise, they all take pride and joy in sharing their knowledge through dialogue and offering hands-on experience.

Promoting jewelry culture

In addition to passing on the knowledge and expertise of the Van Cleef & Arpels workshops for over a century, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts is also committed to spreading jewelry culture through a variety of channels.
