Cygne Blanc ballerina clip & Cygne Noir ballerina clip
Inspired by Swan Lake ballet, the Cygne Blanc ballerina clip represents the delicate Odette – Prince Siegfried’s impossible love who turns into a swan each day. With a soaring gesture, she bends her silhouette towards to sky with her coral and diamond
tutu unfurled. The coral elements have been carefully selected, recut and matched to obtain a harmonious ensemble.
In another reference to Swan Lake, the Cygne Noir ballerina clip expresses all its heroine’s dual nature in a high-contrast aesthetic. Set with black spinels recut in situ, the skirt billows gracefully like the folds of an ethereal fabric. Articulated to express the fluid movement of the scene, pear-shaped diamonds sparkle at the tips of the feathers.
Plume Oiseau de Feu earrings & Plume Oiseau de Feu clip
Adorned with red and gold, three creations take on the incandescent colors of the scenery and costumes of the ballet The Firebird, inspired by a Russian fairy tale. On the first clip, a gradation of rubies, spessartite garnets and yellow and pink sapphires emphasizes the movement of a blazing feather. At its center glows a spessartite garnet weighing 6.40 carats whose pear shape is fringed with three rows of precious stones, like the halo of a flame.
From fairy tales to dance and the Far East, the journey through the Maison’s sources of inspiration continues with these earrings evoking the gates of a far-off palace. Three pear-shaped yellowy-orange sapphires nestle at the
center of arabesques, from which hangs a tassel of Burmese ruby beads representing over 159 carats of color and radiance.
Corps de Ballet necklace
Inspired by the ballet Les Sylphides, the Ronde enchantée necklace presents a row of white cultured pearls, from which hangs a ramification of round and pear-shaped diamonds punctuated by a gray cultured pearl. The latter evokes the spinning movements of graceful ballerinas around the Poet, the main male character. This precious interlacing’s flexible articulation enables the necklace to delicately hug the skin, against which a pear-shaped morganite of crystalline pink – weighing 23.06 carats – seems to burst into bloom.
Designed around a succession of suspended motifs, The Corps de Ballet necklace pays homage to a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace from 1949, depicting ballerinas seen from above. The Prima Ballerina is positioned downstage, engraved on a Sri Lankan sapphire weighing 36.82 carats of a clear and opaque blue. Suggested by yellow sapphires, the other dancers in the corps de ballet whirl on mother-of-pearl medallions in a random arrangement, characteristic of the Maison’s asymmetric style.
Jardin d’Armide clip
Inspired by the garden setting of the Pavillon d’Armide, this clip evokes the peaceful and benevolent nature cherished by Van Cleef & Arpels. An enchanting cabochon of black opal weighing 26.22 carats overlooks a little bridge sculpted in turquoise. Three butterflies set with diamonds and emeralds complete this poetic scene, in which cultured pearls, sapphires, emeralds and turquoise echo the opal’s fires.
Clara long necklace
Throughout its history, Van Cleef & Arpels has combed the world for the most beautiful gems: Pierres de Caractère™ which inspire a unique emotion. The Clara long necklace follows in this tradition, with its exceptional yellow sapphire weighing 9.42 carats. Its gold-tinted color, along with the fullness of its pear shape, suffuse it with a warm glow emphasized by four rows of rubellite beads weighing a total of 403.20 carats. Punctuated by white cultured pearls, this stream of gems is adorned with a detachable bow clip, enabling the yellow sapphire to be worn in various ways to suit different occasions.
Atours de bal earrings & Atours de bal necklace
The Atours de bal set gives the place of honor to a rare assortment of 49 rubies – weighing a total of 57.78 carats – that have been carefully matched by the Maison’s experts. The central piece of the collection, the necklace brings together 33 of these oval and cushion-cut rubies, whose extremely bright appearance is typical of the deposits of Mozambique. At the front of the necklace, an oval ruby is suspended from a flower like a petal. The intricacy of the design, variety of forms – flowers, arabesques, round and pear shapes – and diamond embroidery create the impression of fine lacework, lightly caressing the red of the gems.
In echo to the necklace, two pendants adorn the earrings while the bracelet presents three precious corollas that seem placed directly against the skin. Rubies and marquise-cut diamonds blossom in a combined tribute to the richness of fabrics and the beauty of gardens.
