Uncluttered and refined, the Ludo collection reinterprets an iconic Van Cleef & Arpels creation dating from 1934. The Ludo bracelet is shaped like a belt; distinguished by its flexible mesh, it is punctuated by a bucklelike clasp, set with precious stones.
Reinterpreting the fluidity of fabric in gold has provided the Maison’s workshops with a fascinating technical challenge. To create the impression of a delicate weave, the briquette or hexagon motifs are carefully assembled, then individually adjusted to make them as flexible as possible. This meticulous articulation ensures that the piece is fluid and comfortable to wear.
In keeping with the traditional “honeycomb” mesh, contemporary pieces feature hexagonal links adorned with a star-set precious stone at their centers. This setting technique consists in engraving a star motif by hand in each golden link. The complexity for the Mains d’Or™ is to achieve perfectly regular and symmetrical points for each pattern. Finally, the stone is positioned at the heart of the star and set with gold grains.
