It all began with a story of love and precious stones. In 1895, in the heart of Paris, Estelle Arpels – daughter of a dealer in precious stones – married Alfred Van Cleef, the son of a lapidary. In 1906, the Maison Van Cleef & Arpels came into being at 22 Place Vendôme, linking their names to a shared destiny of High Jewelry.

The celebration of emotions continues today through the Maison’s creations. From wedding bands to solitaires to jewelry sets, each piece reflects at once the enchanting universe of Van Cleef & Arpels, its consummate savoir-faire, and the standards of excellence that guide the selection of stones.

The making of the Romance solitaire

The full enchantment of the Van Cleef & Arpels universe comes through in the Maison’s solitaires and wedding rings. From nature to couture, from dance to the language of love, the Maison’s chief sources of inspiration infuse all creations with elegance and poetry.

For more than a century, exceptional stones have been at the heart of Van Cleef  & Arpels creations. Maintaining its long-established expertise, the Maison selects its stones according to the most stringent criteria. From unique pieces to diamond-set wedding bands, all are created with the same rigorous care, and only stones of the highest quality are used: IF to VVS2 for clarity, D or E for color in solitaires, D, E or F in wedding bands. They imbue pieces with exceptional brilliance.
