Van Cleef & Arpels supports Romeo & Juliet Suite, a creation by Benjamin Millepied
12 September 2022
From September 15th to 25th, 2022, Benjamin Millepied revisits the mythical story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare at La Seine Musicale.
The protagonists evolve in an urban environment, where social norms make their union impossible. The play takes place in Los Angeles, both on and off stage, thanks to a unique projection where some of the scenes are projected in real time from unexpected places inside the theater and backstage.
The company presents a different cast each night, featuring different combinations of gender, making this version a universal celebration of love. Benjamin Millepied brings a mythical story to life through a modern and original prism, sublimated by the music of Prokofiev.
Since 2012, Van Cleef & Arpels has collaborated with the choreographer and his company L.A. Dance Project. This encounter has given rise to several choreographic works including Gems, a trilogy of contemporary ballets. This year, Van Cleef & Arpels is renewing its commitment by presenting Roméo & Juliette Suite in Paris.
The initiative Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels, guided by the values of creation, transmission and education, aims to uphold the artists and institutions that showcase the modern and contemporary choreographic repertoire, while encouraging new productions.
