Nature adorns Van Cleef & Arpels’ boutique in Sydney
November 27, 2021
Much like the beautiful balance that lies within each jewelry design by Van Cleef & Arpels, nature is an eternal trove of delicacy and majesty. Since its founding in 1906, the Maison has always been inspired by nature, imaginary worlds and beautiful fairy tales to create numerous jewels in a highly distinctive style, paying homage to a world that is fluid, constantly evolving, and perpetually renewed.
In keeping with this long-lasting source of inspiration, the Maison asked French artist Charlotte Gastaut to create poetic decorations for its boutique in Sydney, all inspired by a mythical forest. Trees and flowers accompany people through their discovery of the pieces of Van Cleef & Arpels.
Among the creations highlighted in this universe, Paradaiza necklace from the Les Jardins collection has been inspired by the Italian Renaissance gardens, continuing this inspiration from nature. A more abstract depiction of this inspiration is the Secret des papillons necklace, which features a central pendant that resembles a talisman and incorporates a cushion-cut emerald. Like protective guardians, two butterflies flank the central stone. The detachable tassel complements the talisman with a cascade of white cultured pearls.
The artist’s relationship with the Maison began in 2018, when she created the graphic universe illustrating the High Jewelry collection Quatre contes de Grimm. Her style, characterized by a wide palette of colors, furnished patterns and elegant characters, transcribes Van Cleef & Arpels’ universe into touching and poetic drawings.
