Mother-of-pearl is a delicate material and should be stored in its own jewelry case lined with cotton fabric. Any contact with other stones could result in scratching.

Chemical products can attack the polished top surface of the mother-of-pearl, leaving it with a matte appearance.  We advise avoiding any direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and hand sanitizer.

Despite the origins of this substance, it is preferable to avoid any contact with water. Mother-of-pearl tends to retract when water evaporates from its surface, making it vulnerable to shrinkage. In case of contact with water, the Maison recommends that you wipe the piece quickly with a soft cloth to prevent any alteration of the design.

To protect the quality of its polish and shine, mother-of-pearl may be gently cleaned using a soft, dry cloth.

Carnelian is a relatively resistant stone that is easy to care for. However, for the lasting enjoyment of your creation, Van Cleef & Arpels would like to share the following care recommendations.

Mirror polish brings a particularly lively sparkle to the stone. In order to protect it, we recommend that you keep it away from any chemical or abrasive product, and therefore that you avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and hand sanitizers.

It is also preferable to remove your jewelry when engaging in any sporting activity to avoid shocks. 

Carnelian can be naturally banded, which is due to its microcrystalline composition. If water infiltrates it, the banding may become more visible. The Maison therefore recommends that you avoid wearing your piece in a hot, humid setting (especially shower, spa or hammam). 

Onyx is a relatively resistant stone that is easy to care for, and it can be worn daily. However, for lasting enjoyment of your creation, the Maison would like to share the following care recommendations.

To protect the radiance of your stone and avoid abrasion, it should ideally be stored separately from other jewelry pieces in a case lined with fabric. It is also preferable to remove your jewelry when engaging in any sporting activity to avoid shocks.

Turquoise is particularly sensitive to the sun and direct light, which can dehydrate it and turn it green. The Maison therefore recommends that its turquoise creations be stored in a closed case.

This mineral forms in dry, arid environments and can absorb liquids and chemical products (water, soap, creams) which may alter its color. It is preferable to avoid any direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and hand sanitizer.

The stone is also sensitive to perspiration because of its acidity, so we recommend removing your jewelry before engaging in any sporting activity.
