A union of purity and refinement, this Ludo™ bracelet in 18K rose gold stands out for its hexagon mesh that embraces the wrist with suppleness. The mesh is studded with star-set rubies whose intensity echoes the gemstones adorning the central motif: coral and diamonds. The Ludo collection reinterprets an iconic Van Cleef & Arpels creation from 1934. This historic piece evokes a belt, a loving nod to the world of couture.
An organic material, coral is prized by the Maison for its myriad hues, which range from white to the brightest red, often exhibiting delicate tones of dusty rose and orange.
The Maison applies the strictest criteria in its selection process, only using coral that displays a bright, uniform color and smooth, even surface.
A diamond forms through a combination of exceptional factors of temperature and pressure, deep down in the Earth’s mantle. Each gem was formed millions of years ago and bears witness to the Earth’s history. Diamonds are made of carbon and are distinctive for their hardness and light reflection properties.
Since 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels has been bringing its expertise to the service of the gem’s natural beauty in order to ensure that its creations offer extraordinary sparkle. Diamonds are a part of the Maison’s tradition of excellence, and they undergo a twofold selection process – both scientific and specific to Van Cleef & Arpels – for central and pavé stones alike. The process is initially based on the internationally recognized criteria known as the 4Cs: carat (weight), cut, color, and clarity. Only stones of the best quality are selected, with a color ranging from D to F, on a scale from D to Z, and a clarity between FL and VVS2.
Then each one is scrutinized by the meticulous eye of the Van Cleef & Arpels expert gemologists. Beyond meeting strict scientific criteria, the diamonds must also match the excellence and taste of Maison while considering the beauty and elegance of each stone, which make it stand out from the others.
The ruby is a member of the corundum family. Together with the sapphire, it is the second hardest stone after the diamond. The stone’s intense, incandescent glow, its nuanced hues ranging from light pink to deep red, as well as its rarity, make the ruby an exceptional gem among precious stones.
The Maison selects stones that can be cut in the finest manner to highlight their remarkable essence. Van Cleef & Arpels is attentive to the beauty of their color and their profound resplendence. These characteristics bring the stone’s inner substance to life, sublimating its intrinsic charm and singular personality.
