True to Van Cleef & Arpels’ tradition of excellence, the Maison applies a two-tier selection process in choosing its diamonds. All preselected stones meet the internationally recognized 4Cs of diamond quality. This step, which consists of an objective assessment of quality, is carried out together with an in-depth visual examination by Van Cleef & Arpels’ expert gemologists.
Going beyond scientific criteria in their study of diamonds, they adhere to the Maison’s demanding standards and individual taste, focusing on the stone’s beauty and character: the spiritual quality that makes a specific gem stand out among others. Van Cleef & Arpels is thus one of the few Maisons to offer diamonds of such remarkable quality, both for center and pavé stones.

Van Cleef & Arpels' attention to detail in selecting exceptional diamonds is reflected in the choice of each and every one of the Maison's stones. Whether precious or ornamental, only exceptional stones bringing an unforgettable emotion are selected to be worked by Van Cleef & Arpel's craftsmen.
Characterized by an intense blue color, turquoise is among the first stones to be mined during Antiquity. Collections such as Alhambra®, Perlée™ and Bouton d’or® feature turquoise in delicate harmonies of color, set off by white or yellow gold.
Carnelian is a reddish-orange variety of chalcedony that has been used in jewelry since Antiquity. Collections such as Bouton d'Or® and Alhambra® feature carnelian in delicate color harmonies, set off by pink or yellow gold.
A stone of the quartz family, tiger’s eye exhibits alternating layers of lustrous yellow and brown waves reminiscent of a feline eye. Among the Maison’s collections, selected Alhambra® creations give prominence to its characteristic iridescence and chatoyant effect, brought to life in the iconic Van Cleef & Arpels clover motif.
An opaque stone of singular beauty, malachite calls to mind the vitality of nature through its deep green hue enriched with light and dark banding. Van Cleef & Arpels selects malachite displaying straight, uniform veins. The stone gleams alongside yellow gold in the Alhambra® and Perlée™ collections, among other creations.
The exceptional stones selected by Van Cleef & Arpels are then worked and sublimated by the Maison's craftsmen to give life to timeless creations.
