Emblematic of Van Cleef & Arpels, the golden bead draws inspiration from a decorative detail that adorned select pieces in the 1920s. By 1948, it had become a motif in its own right, inspiring creations replete with volume and curves.
In the late 1940s, the golden beads took on greater volume as they appeared in the Couscous and Bagatelle creations. These richly shaped pieces unite the radiance of precious metal with the shimmer of gemstones.
Starting in 1963, the Twist creations paired golden beads with colorful gemstones to form delicate spirals. The sunlit glow of the precious metal intertwines with lapis lazuli, coral and turquoise in combinations that reflect the tastes of the era.
The Maison brings charming animals to life, reflecting its vision of benevolent nature. The golden beads instill softness and depth to a fawn's coat, a pair of birds' plumage and a butterfly's wings.
Whether as a central element or a shimmering contour, the golden bead continues to grace the Alhambra, Lucky Spring and Lucky Animals creations. Since 2008, the Perlée collection has combined pure lines with the artistry of fine jewelry, offering numerous interpretations of this timeless aesthetic.
