“To be lucky, you have to believe in luck,” as Jacques Arpels, nephew of Estelle Arpels, liked to say. An avid collector, he would pick four-leaf clovers in the back yard of his house in Germigny-l’Évêque, offering them to his employees along with an English poem, “Don’t Quit” as an invitation to always keep hope alive.

Luck is a value the Maison holds dear, guiding its path and inspiring some of its most emblematic creations. Reflecting its positive vision of life, four-leaf clovers appear in the archives as early as 1906, later joined by wooden talismans, good-luck charms and ladybugs.
In 1968, the Alhambra collection was born. Its timeless motif, reminiscent of the shape of a four-leaf clover, has since become Van Cleef & Arpels' signature symbol of luck. True to the Maison's style and jewelry expertise, the collection has continued to evolve, exploring variations in material, function and motif sizes.
