Almost fifty years after the first performance of Jewels - George Balanchine’s ballet inspired by the jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels - the Maison is once again taking part in an exceptional collaboration in the field of dance.
From May 23 to 25, 2013, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Benjamin Millepied, French dancer and choreographer, will be staging Reflections, a new work born of his encounter with the High Jewelry Maison and the first part of a trilogy entitled Gems.
The Maison’s first ballerina clips were created in New York in the 1940s at the prompting of Louis Arpels. For Van Cleef & Arpels, ever sensitive to grace and harmony, dance has long been an important source of inspiration.
Van Cleef & Arpels celebrates its Between the Finger Ring with a new creation inspired by Nature. Cosmos, emblematic collection of the Maison, welcome a new Between the Finger Ring combining elegance and innovation.
Inspired by the Cosmos flower’s delicate corollas, the different-sized motifs of this enchanting ring blossom on either side of the finger to form a sparkling duet. More than 90 diamonds, selected according to the highest standards, add stunning radiance to the heart and petals. From the motifs themselves to the overall proportions, each detail has been carefully designed to confer lightness and grace on this precious bouquet.

From May 1, 2013, two new miniature creations in pink gold and carnelian will complete the Sweet Alhambra line. Playfully feminine, it will be enriched by heart-shaped and Alhambra mini earstuds.
Graced by a warm glow, they may be worn with the Maison’s other pieces in pink gold and carnelian, or matched with Vintage Alhambra or Perlée jewels in pink gold.
Renowned for its deep and joyful hue, carnelian was one of the first stones to be used in jewelry. Much prized by the Ancient Romans for intaglios, it was thought by the Egyptians to symbolize life.
The material first appeared in the Alhambra collection in 1968, on a long necklace with alternate yellow gold and carnelian. Its distinctive orangey-red tones now embellish the Sweet Alhambra, Magic Alhambra and Lucky Alhambra lines.
