Cocktail ring, Pierres de Caractères - Variations collection
Carpes Koi ring, Palais de la chance collection
The cocktail ring is particular in that it features precious, fine or hard stones and is of a substantial size. The term was coined during the 1930s, when such rings would be worn to gala receptions or cocktail parties, hence their name. Adorning a beautiful hand, they would catch the light and attract attention. Raising a glass to one’s lips became a demonstration of gracefulness.
During the fifties and sixties, cocktail rings were worn by high-society women at prestigious evening parties. Lively colors and bold designs were the hallmarks of these rings, and of jewelry generally, in the sixties and seventies.
