Trésor Ailé ring, one heart-shaped Fancy Vivid yellow diamond of 5.73 carats
Van Cleef & Arpels’ High Jewelry speaks a universal language that allows people to express their dreams…even when they cannot find the words.
Capturing animals, flowers and imaginary creatures in full movement in its creations, the Maison has once again created an audacious collection in which swallows and storks are found alongside dragons, peonies and stars. Combinations of hard, fine and precious stones transforms highly creative designs into three-dimensional High Jewelry pieces such as the Trésor Ailé ring , the Lierre set, the Chardon Secret ring or the Muguet clip. The Palais de la chance collection is also an opportunity to use new stones such as the grossular garnet of the Bois Céleste necklace .
Lierre necklace, 52 oval-cut emeralds for a total weight of 92.90 carats. Lierre earrings, 4 oval-cut emeralds for a total weight of 5.72 carats
In the greatest Van Cleef & Arpels tradition, a river of 52 emeralds of an intense green pays homage to the color of ivy. Jewelry motifs punctuate this interlacing of diamonds and black spinels. In the shape of an ivy leaf, the clasp becomes a discreet good-luck symbol. Several years’ research and selection work on the part of the Maison’s gemologists was required in order to collect this batch. Thanks to its highly unusual color and its rarity, the emerald is the most precious gemstone in the beryl family. The positioning of the 52 emeralds is carried out with the greatest respect for the original design and devised to give perspective to this creation. The jeweler then creates “made-to-measure” bezels for each emerald. Each stone is individually set by hand. The ensemble is then articulated: the bezels of the setting are articulated one by one, giving suppleness to the movement. The black spinels and diamonds have been individually re-cut one by one in order to perfectly embrace the jewelry curves created for this collection. The technique of recutting the black spinels on the piece was used for the first time in the Bals de Légende collection on the Liberty Island ring.
Chardon Secret ring, white gold, diamonds, pink gold, mauve sapphires, one 9.72-carat oval-cut pink sapphire
Van Cleef & Arpels delivers a geometric interpretation of the thistle flower. In profile, the flower’s petals appear to be closed, delicately surrounding the pistil, depicted by a 9.72-carat oval-cut pink sapphire from Sri Lanka. Seen from above, the flower is in full bloom, capturing all the beauty of its blossom.
The setting work carried out on the Chardon Secret ring represents true technical innovation. The fruit of advanced research within the Van Cleef & Arpels workshops, the sapphire setting is invisible. Not a single prong or bezel can be seen. Finally, the re-cutting of the diamonds and baguette-cut sapphires gives the piece rich volume.
Muguet clip, platinium, diamonds and emeralds
The combination of emeralds and round diamonds highlights the floral nature of the piece that emphasizes the gracious curves of lily-of-the-valley.The bell-shaped flowers of the Muguet clip are mounted on a ball-joint system. This jewelry system without springs allows them to move slightly, as would a sprig of lily-of-the-valley in nature when caressed by a gentle breeze. The piece presents a unique stone-setting architecture that conceals the metal and gives the piece incomparable lightness. The honeycomb openwork design emphasizes the brilliance of the emeralds and allows the light to penetrate.
Bois Céleste necklace, one 9.51-carat pear-shaped grossular garnet
Red coral clouds contrast with snakewood, an earthy element par excellence. The sky and the earth are thus harmoniously represented in this creation. The Bois Céleste necklace showcases a 9.51-carat grossular garnet that is spring green tinged with yellow. It is an extremely luminous stone whose substance contains few inclusions.Major hard-stone sculpture work is carried out for the red coral clouds in order to emphasize the airy appearance of the piece.
Zodiac Set Virgo clip, white gold, diamonds, sapphires, red gold, Mystery Set sapphires, rose-cut diamond face
Zip Trèfle necklace transformable into a bracelet, yellow gold and diamonds
Van Cleef & Arpels has deployed all its technical prowess to embellish the stones and instill the poetry of luck into its creations.
Over one hundred years of expertise and a spirit of innovation at the service of creative audacity are all possible thanks to The Mains d’Or™ - master craftsmen from the Maison’s workshops - who craft metal, create mise-à-jour and polish the pieces in order to reflect the light. They know the laws of radiance, brilliance and movement. Therein lies their secret art… To give the impression of lightness - thanks to the suppleness of the necklaces - by exalting materials as hard as gold and diamonds is tantamount to alchemy.
The Mains d’Or™ have not only accomplished their traditional feats of jewelry-making, such as Mystery Setting™ or the famous Zip necklace inspired by the zip fastener. They have also added the subtle magic of metamorphosis. Transformable long necklaces, moveable motifs and Poetic Theaters - playful pieces fitted with ingenious mechanisms - all bear witness to Van Cleef & Arpels’ eternal spirit of innovation and creativity.
