Diamond Dancer decor clip, 2011, Bals de Légende collection
Jewelry and Dance inspire similar emotions: the pursuit of perfection, the dedication to precision and finesse, and a giddy sense of excitement. The Maison’s affinity for the most poetic of the performing arts dates from the days when Louis Arpels would leave his office in Place Vendôme to attend a ballet at the nearby Opéra Garnier. In 1961, Louis’ passion came to life when Claude Arpels met choreographer George Balanchine and inspired him to create the Jewels Ballet.
Danseuse Espagnole clip, 1941, Van Cleef & Arpels' Collection
Dance embodies the Maison’s spirit, youthfulness, grace, and beauty ever since the inception of Van Cleef & Arpels’ iconic ballerina in New York in the 1940s.
Like a perfectly executed arabesque, the poetry of the ballerina’s gestures is always brilliantly expressed by the expertise of Van Cleef & Arpels.
Ballerina Mélisandre clip, 2006, une journée à Paris collection
Dance is still at the heart of many creations, such as the Ballerina Mélisandre clip from the Une Journée à Paris High Jewelry collection. Her tutu delicately follows the movement of the leg, resulting in an extremely gracious effect.
Her face is a rose-cut diamond, and she is wearing a dress of pink sapphires and rubies set in pink gold.
Héloîse clip, 2007, Ballet précieux collection
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the George Balanchine’s Jewels Ballet, the Ballet Précieux High Jewelry collection introduces a series of ballerina clips. The Héloïse ballerina clip consists of a white gold dancer, with a rose-cut countenance, bedecked in an emerald Mystery Set™ and diamond tutu.
Isadora clip, 2007, Ballet Précieux collection
Half-woman and half-bird, the Isadora clip pays homage to the traditions of Russian ballet. Her countenance is adorned with a rose-cut diamond and her dance slippers are delicately set with pink diamonds.
A scattering of prong set princess, marquise, pear-shaped, and oval-cut colored diamonds sets her tutu in motion.
Diamond Dancer decor clip, 2001, Bals de légende collection
The Diamond Dancer decor clip, from the Bals de Légende High Jewelry collection, echoes the whirl of a ball. This clip illustrates a twirling Russian dancer set in white gold with diamonds.
Ballerina Dancer set & timepiece, 2011, Van Cleef & Arpels' Collection
The Ballerina Dancer set and timepiece were created for the opening of Hong Kong Maison in 2011. The Ballerina Dancer necklace and its detachable clip bring together exquisite femininity, the charm of ballerinas, and one of the Maison’s most remarkable accomplishments: the Mystery Set™ technique.
The graceful ballerina on the dial of the timepiece is engraved in relief in gold, creating a sense of movement, as if she were dancing. Her spinning tutu is revealed by a red lacquer and diamond setting, and a rose cut diamond creates the contours of her face.
